The title of this blog is a quote that some say was spoken by Socrates and others say it wasn’t. Honestly, I couldn’t care less. Regardless of who actually said it, doesn’t change the fact that it is spot on. Change is something so many people tend to try and avoid and I personally think change can be a really good thing and very healthy at times. The Portos brand is going through a lot of changes right now and, honestly, we are excited for it. With growth, change is inevitable.
So, what exactly is changing? Well, this time last year The Portos consisted solely of Phil and Christa, the dynamic husband and wife duo. In the past year, our team has grown not only in number but in the caliber of work we have been able to put out. In this time of transition for the business, there has also been some change in the life of the dynamic duo. With the news that our personal family was growing, we put more of a focus on being an awesome agency of photographers and allowing Christa to take more of a behind-the-scenes approach to the business.
All of those changes have led to positive results. Our team is stronger than ever and we have worked with some of the most amazing couples we could ever ask for. This past year, we also crossed paths with a videographer, Dan Farias, who had such potential and was just getting his feet wet in the wedding industry. We reached out to him and instantly felt the connection and brought him onto our team. It could not have been a better fit. Our styles and approach to capturing real moments fit like ice cream and sprinkles (yeah, I am a fat boy at heart). However, as Dan continued to shoot alongside us and continued to grow in his craft, we decided to make another change in the Portos Brand.
John C. Maxwell said, “Good leadership isn’t about advancing yourself. It’s about advancing your team.” In order to advance our team and advance Dan’s career, we will no longer be offering video services or having Dan shooting under The Portos brand as a subcontractor, but rather, he will continue to build his own brand, All In White Films. We are still offering Wedding Photo and Video Packages but we have formed a partnership with All In White. This benefits our couples because they still get a team that works fluidly together and have similar styles, but you will now have videographer who solely focuses on the art form of videography.
John C. Maxwell also said “Leaders become great, not because of their power, but because of their ability to empower others”. We are empowering someone who we really believe in. Any good leader is also able to admit when the student has surpassed the teacher and Dan has done exactly that. His work is incredible and his passion for what he does is unmatched.
The hiring process will still be exactly the same. Can you hire the Portos for photography and someone other than Dan for videography? Of course. However, we highly recommend hiring the photo and video package in order to get a team that works seamlessly together.
Here is a video trailer showing how talented he truly is.
